Leicestershire & Rutland Ramblers

Bardon Hill

The major earthworks continue with paths moving about and temporary diversion being put in place as well as some extinguishments so be warned when trying to walk the area

As far as we can tell from the restoration plans, year on year there are expected to be more paths in that area creating a full network. There should also be a perimeter path to take the Ivanhoe Way users off the A511 and to Copt Oak from the south-west and a link from Bardon Hill to Copt Oak probably better than the traditional network provided.

2020 should see further changes creating a network of 'fill-in' paths to north-east and south-west of main working area

Air Ambulance

Leicester Group are organising a Charity Buffet Supper in aid of the local Air Ambulance

It is at the Chef and Spice, Hinckley Rd, Leics.  LE3 5PG - Monday 19th November 19.00

Price £15 each for all you can eat from an extensive Indian Buffet, with options for Chinese Stir Fries,

Italian Pizzas, English Fried Chicken/Lamb, Chips, Vegetables and Salads.

Their target to raise over £1500 on the night. They did this event last year and raised a considerable sum of money as the

restaurant makes a donation of  £9 per person to the charity

Hopefully we will not need to call on the air ambulance but it is a comfort to know it is there and Stan Warren would not

have survived without one.

Everybody is very welcome

Stan Warren

Stan Warren for nearly 30 years our footpaths officer had a massive coronary whilst in Llandudno and was rushed to hospital by air ambulance where they did two procedures on his heart. After a week during which he never regained consciousness he was flown to Leicester Royal Infirmary where tests suggested possible brain damage.

A further week on he is showing some response to staff and visitors and can take a little water by mouth but he cannot speak and is barely conscious

We don’t want to tire him by crowds of visitors so if anyone does want to visit please contact the Editor

He will advise the slots when nobody else is thought to be visiting

Visitors are very welcome though as it helps to stimulate him
